Happy One Year Anniversary

Image  WordPress just helped remind me that a year ago I made up my mind to become a literary blogger.

When I first thought of blogging, I wanted to actually blog with Blogspot but somehow that day my usual technological challenges were in full force. Exasperated and out of patience, I clicked on WordPress and without further ado, I chose a name and registered the blog.

Choosing ‘alifediary’ as my blog name was because at that time I wanted a place where I’d freely discuss life’s issues in my usual fun way. I had already paid for a domain name through Godaddy and was planning to use that blog when I finally host it as my literary blog where I’d post my stories and do some relationship talks.

Well, life happened and I found myself unable to afford hosting that domain name, so after abandoning my alifediary blog for so long, I took another look at it and decided, what the heck? Why not begin the writings here and see how it goes?

That was on the 31st of January 2014… just some three months back.

First articles I started with, I had to always send out alerts to my sisters to visit the blog, read and make comments.

When my blog stats read 50 hits, I puffed with real pride. The day we went over a hundred, I felt like I’d just achieved the greatest thing. For over a month I prayed for a thousand hits and when it came (I only noticed it at 1008 hits) it was the greatest day fo my young blogging life.

Now hits are at over 4,200. I watch it grow every day and I feel the sense of pride of having taken a leap of faith and seeing it work out.

I am still at the beginning. Alifediary has still got miles to go… but we’ve come a long way in just three months.

I still plan to own my very own paid hosted blog… lifeandspices.com is going to be a reality in 2015 by God’s grace.

But thus far, I am grateful.

I thank God for courage and inspiration, He is the talent giver.

I thank my sisters, Ifeoma, Paulette and Frances who started with me and are still here. God bless you all.

I thank my darling hub, M. who never fails to encourage me and pays for the subscriptions to do this month after month, you are the best.

I thank my mum, elder sister and friends who have been enthusiastically encouraging. Just knowing you believe in me spurs me on.

I also thank other followers who have come form their own blogs, who came in from other blogs, my Nairaland readers and every registered follower and those contemplating registering but reading from afar *winks*… your every click on this blog means a whole lot to me.

Tonight I just want to say thank you and hey, don’t go nowhere, alifediary has so much more for you.

I love you all.

My apologies

Image

Dear readers,

I do want to sincerely apologise for the way the blog has been run this past month or so.

Articles such as inspirational messages and entertaining posts have not been as frequent as before.

Some series have literally been abandoned – Libeck & Lemon – and others not updated frequently enough – Ant Hill.

I am really sorry for these inconstancies. It is mainly due to my writing work load at the moment. I am in the middle of starting up a new series and also working on a romance work soon to be published.

I do promise to look into my schedule and try to set things up in an orderly format.

Meanwhile, Libeck & Lemon will remain on hold until Ant Hill (which thankfully has just 3 more episodes to go) has run its course and Missing Christabel draws its end curtain.

I thank you all for your followership and implore you to remain in your visits and comments *winks*

Always remember – things can only get better.

FOUR  – She had my number!

We had both slept like logs. Maybe it was the constant Police visit all through yesterday that had gotten us both dog-tired and fagged out, I don’t know. I only know I woke up feeling a little less jumpy and ready to face a new day.

It was a Sunday morning and though we should be rushing off to church and all that, we’d slept in and woken up too late for any church service.

So once again I found myself in front of the TV, doing what I did best – watching my favourite sports channel. Lola, I suppose was in the kitchen doing something about our late breakfast. In the meantime, I doused my appetite with a cold fried chicken and a bottle of beer. As I munched and sipped, I felt my world slip back to normal… perfect.

I stretched my hand to lift my glass of beer and the decisive knock on the door stopped my hand in mid-air. Christ, who could that be?

Cool Facts

ImageIt’s been quite a while since we looked up some fun facts or weird facts. Today while hopping about the internet, I came across some real cool facts about us humans… check them out *winks*

Image  Did you that the human nose can remember up to 50000 different types of scents? **so don’t fear breathing in more of those nice aromas**

Image You know, you have no sense of smell when you’re sleeping! **really? I could’ve sworn I almost always perceived breakfast from my sleep, huh.**

Ant Hill – 9

Image

We made our way hastily towards the exit of the Hill, our antennae linked as we marched side by side.

“Are you sure we won’t be caught?” Zita asked again, feeling her heartbeat thump.

“I am sure we were meant to do this.” I answered my tone was gentle. “Stop looking back, you have nothing to fear.” I made a gurgling sound of consolation.

“I can’t help it.” Zita said in a low voice, but she strived not to angle her head backwards again. “Maybe Kiki was right… maybe…”

“No, she was not.” I cut in. “Stop second guessing yourself. You wanted us to do this because you knew it was the right thing.”

“It is?”

“Yes.” I stopped at the sandy exit. “This is it.” I told her, my eyes glowing as they looked into hers.

Zita drew in a hitching breath as they stepped through the narrow exit. The moment their legs stepped across the exit into the damp, wide-spread field, her fears and apprehension vanished into the dewy early-morning still-dark air.
